incoming: JERAMIAH FERRARI!

Hailing from Leigh, Greater Manchester, Jeramiah Ferrari could very well be the band your summers been missing. They boldly play with the reggae genre and mix it up with punk rock and quirky song structures, creating reggae inspired pop that’s as startling as your cat being binned by a postmenopausal woman.. Starting off as a covers band called Half Way To Victory the band have come along way the past few months and with a new name and drummer, they are quickly becoming a must see band in the town. They play Tudor this Friday and recently caught up with us for gibber gabber..

WMC: Hello Jeramiah Ferrari, how are you?

JF: Hey, we’re awesome thanks. Hows it hanging?

WMC: Lovely. You’ve not been around very long but already causing a buzz in the local music scenes around the North. How did it all begin?

JF: It all started around May this year. Growing tired of the cover gigs scene, We wanted to start gigging original music. We had some differences with our original drummer and then looked to our good friend Stu from chaos theory. He liked our material and we liked the new dimension he brought to our music by adding genres such as DnB, Jungle and Calypso.

WMC: Where did the name come from?

JF: Jeramiah Ferrari was a homemade bong that we poured our hearts and souls into making. We took one hit of it and it made us all ill and actually killed one of our friends. RIP CLARK.

WMC: That’s heavy. You’ve apparently just recorded a new demo?

JF: Thats true, We’ve just laid down two new tracks “Kick Push” and “Black Sheep” and have some more studio time booked for the end of September. We’re Hoping to release our debut EP early October

WMC: What would you do to the cat in the bin woman?

JF: Give her a taste of her own medicine, chuck her in a bin, fill it shoulder deep with kitty litter…invite neighbourhood cats.

WMC: More importantly, who would you kick in the dick?

JF: Vanilla Ice for covering/murdering Buffalo Soldier.

WMC: Tell us some of your major influences?

JF: Bob Marley, Sublime, Toots and the Maytals, 10ft Ganja Plant to name a few…

WMC: Ever had a heckler at a gig?

JF: We had a hobo come and get on stage at our last gig. He shouted obscenities at the crowd and at us down a microphone. But its no sweat, no one listens to hobos anyway.

WMC: You have the best song titles ever ‘No Booty’ and ‘Butterfly Sex Bong’ to name a few.. What are your songs about?

JF: Cannabis. Sex. Atheism. Girls. Love for Music. Insecurities. Our hometown. Religion. Drinking. Bordem. Mighty Sparrow. Growing up. Scarlett Johansson.

WMC: Best/worse gig?

JF: Our best gig so far has to have been The VW fest that we played a few weeks back. Hundreds of people packed into a tiny marque, everyone dancing to reggae. Couldnt ask for more. We haven’t really had a bad/worst gig yet, we’ve played to some small crowds but we always enjoy it no matter what happens.

WMC: Finally, what does the rest of 2010 hold for JF?

JF: We’re hoping to release the EP in October and carry on booking gigs to promote our music across the UK.
